Psimeni feast in Katapola

Every year after the end of the Mass and the Artoklasia (loaf breaking) at Aghios Panteleimon, follows the Psimeni feast in Katapola, one of the best culinary events in Amorgos, with a lot of dancing and abundant Psimeni, the island’s traditional drink with basic ingredients raki, honey, sugar and 8 different herbs. Visitors have the opportunity during the Psimeni feast to see the traditional processing method and of course, taste it. Besides, its reputation has come out the island’s borders and has spread throughout Greece. The event is organized by the Katapola Amorgians’ Association in cooperation with the Amorgos Professional Association and under the auspices of the Municipality of Amorgos.
